Check C2PA Content Credentials in Seconds
Modelia's C2PA checker lets you inspect images and videos for Content Credentials and digital provenance information. When available, Content Credentials can provide information about how a file was created, modified, or processed, along with available creator, software, AI-generation, and verification information.
Upload a supported file to quickly inspect its available C2PA data and understand what the file's provenance record contains.

Trusted & Verified
Signed by Modelia
This file was created or edited using Modelia. Its Content Credentials are cryptographically verified against the official C2PA Trust List.
Trusted & Verified
Trusted Signature
The file's Content Credentials are cryptographically verified and signed by a source on the official C2PA Trust List.
Valid · Unknown Signer
Signer Not on the Trust List
Genuine signature and unchanged content, but the signer isn't on the C2PA Trust List.
Not Verified
Invalid Credentials — Verification Failed
The file contains Content Credentials, but they could not be verified. This can happen for several reasons — for example, the file was changed after signing, the signature no longer matches, or the certificate is expired, revoked, or invalid.
Not Verified
No Content Credentials Found
No readable C2PA Content Credentials were found in the file. This does not necessarily mean the content was not created or edited with AI.
C2PA Checker vs. AI Image Detector
C2PA and AI detection are different approaches to understanding digital content. A C2PA checker looks for provenance information recorded in the file, while an AI image detector analyzes the content itself to estimate whether it may have been generated or manipulated by AI.
C2PA can provide stronger provenance evidence when Content Credentials are present and verified, but the absence of Content Credentials does not prove that a file was created without AI.

C2PA Checker FAQs
What is a C2PA checker?
A C2PA checker examines digital files for C2PA Content Credentials and available provenance information.
What are Content Credentials?
Content Credentials are provenance information associated with digital content using the C2PA standard.
Does this tool verify signatures, or just read metadata?
Modelia's checker does both. It reads the Content Credentials embedded in a file and cryptographically verifies the file's signature and certificate against the official C2PA Trust List.
Does C2PA prove an image is real?
No. C2PA can provide verifiable information about a file's recorded provenance, but it does not by itself prove that every claim depicted by the content is factually true.
Does no C2PA mean an image is not AI-generated?
No. A file without Content Credentials may simply have never received them, or may have lost them during editing, conversion, or distribution.
Can C2PA detect AI-generated images?
C2PA can report AI-related information when it is recorded in a file's Content Credentials. It is not the same as a pixel-based AI image detector.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser. Your original file is never uploaded to Modelia's servers.
Which formats does the Modelia C2PA checker support?
Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, MP4, MOV. Up to 200 MB per file.
