Modelia Studio v4: Certification You Can See on Every Image

Today we are releasing Modelia Studio v4. It brings the improvements a version number promises, but one change matters more than the rest, and it is the smallest one on the screen: a small AI mark in the corner of every image you generate.

That mark is not a feature we added last week. It is the surfacing of something that has been true for a while, quietly.

What has been true since August

Since we launched the current platform on 24, August 2026, every image exported from Modelia has carried two layers of machine-readable provenance, by default, on every plan, without anyone switching anything on:

  • Signed provenance: a cryptographically signed C2PA manifest embedded in the file, stating that the image is AI-generated, that Modelia vouches for it, and when it was created, with a trusted timestamp.
  • An invisible watermark: an imperceptible signal woven into the pixels, designed to keep answering after platforms strip the metadata.

If you have generated images with Modelia since 24 August 2026, those images are already certified. You did not have to do anything, and that was the point. We built provenance as infrastructure, not as a setting.

What was missing was visibility. The marks were made for software, and software could read them, but a person looking at their own image in the Studio could not. Version 4 closes that gap: every image now shows its certification status, and the AI mark in the corner means the signed manifest and the watermark are present and verified in that file.

Do not take our word for it

A certification you cannot check is a logo. So alongside v4, our public verification tool is live: upload any image, yours or anyone's, and it reads the provenance for you. It parses the C2PA manifest, runs watermark detection, and tells you what it found and which layer produced the answer.

It is free, it works on any file, and it does not keep what you upload. Try it on an image fresh from the Studio. Then, if you want to see why European law requires two layers instead of one, post that image somewhere, download it back, and verify it again. The metadata layer will usually be gone; the watermark will still answer. That behaviour, and what it means, is exactly what we have been writing about all month in our C2PA series.

What this covers, and what stays with you

Honesty about the split matters more in an announcement than anywhere else. The layers inside the file satisfy the machine-readable marking duty that European law places on us as the platform. They do not satisfy the duty the law places on you as a publisher: content that qualifies as a deepfake, and much commercial fashion imagery does, needs a visible label that a person can see, and the European Commission has said explicitly that our invisible marks cannot stand in for it.

So the launch comes with the other half of the answer: our compliance page explains exactly what is inside every Modelia image, what is deliberately not inside it, how to verify any file, and how the duties split between us and you, including the free official EU icons for visible labelling. And for teams that want the full picture in one document, our study on AI content rules for fashion is available there today.

What we are not claiming

Three sentences we owe you, because trust is built at the limits. Signed provenance is strong evidence, not legal immunity: no marking technology makes an image "compliant" by itself. A determined actor can strip marks from a file; our layers are designed to survive ordinary distribution, not sabotage. And your visible-labelling duty remains yours; we give you the tools, not the responsibility. The longer version of this section, including everything our certification does not do, publishes here on Wednesday, because we think publishing our limits is part of the product.

Why we built it this way

Fashion is adopting AI imagery faster than any industry, under rules that arrived this August with fines that reach 15 million euros. In that environment, the question every brand will eventually face is simple: can you show how your images were made? We wanted every Modelia customer to have a one-word answer, backed by cryptography rather than by a paragraph of assurances. Yes.

Version 4 is live today for all users. The AI mark is on every image. The verifier is open to everyone, customer or not. And if you generated images with us since August: they were certified all along. Now you can see it.

Modelia is the AI imagery platform where every export leaves certified by default: signed C2PA manifest, invisible watermark, verifiable by anyone. See how it works, or check any image in the free C2PA checker. Rules and data: The State of AI-Generated Content in Fashion 2026.
